  1. hey man, i wanna ask something.. if i had only 1 lens to buy, which one should i buy, tamron 17-50 f2.8 vc or nikon 50mm f1.4 G?? please help me make a decision, and please some reasons..lol

    thank you,
    Wira (indonesia)

    1. I’m assuming you’re mounting this on a crop sensor body, right? In that case, 50mm is a little long for an only lens. I’d get the wide zoom if I could only pick one. For my D700, I’d take the 50mm over a wide zoom, however. Love that lens on full frame =)

      1. yess, i’m using nikon d5000, oh i already have kit 18-55 (i’m think this lens isn’t sharp enough), nikon 35mm f1.8 dx, nikon 55-200 vr dx. is tamron 17-50 VC a wise decision to buy to exchange the kit 18-55? or should i go with 50 1.4G? anyway, big thanks to your reply! πŸ™‚

      2. Well, let me ask you, should I get a hammer or screw driver? They only way you could answer that is if I told you what I was trying to accomplish with the tool, right? Lenses are tools. So, what are you trying to accomplish? I say, stick with what you got now and hold off on buying a new lens. The choice will become clear if you keep shooting until you figure out that something you are trying to accomplish can’t be done with what you currently have πŸ™‚

  2. hmmm, really wise thought you have…lollll
if i thought backward, i can take a shoot a daily life with my 35mm, and sometimes i need a wide lens, but the best wide lens for DX is tokina 11-16, and it hasn’t motor at its lens, so i think 17-50 will be pretty good, what do you think? i love to take little2 things photos, and suddenly 50mm 1.4G come up into my mind, thats why i’m really confusing right now…lolll
so i need to hold off and think of it again? maybe i’ll do it.. πŸ™‚
