Traveling

Normally when I go on vacation I’ll bring two or three cameras at least. For our recent 2000 mile road trip, however, I stuck to my Travelwide 90. The Travelwide was designed to be a large format camera you could easily travel with and shoot hand-held. So in keeping with that design intent, I brought just one pack (20 sheets) of 4×5 Neopan Acros 100 and two film holders. Everything fit in my small camera bag. Well, except for the changing bag I kept in my trunk for the zillion times I had to load and offload the film. Maybe I’ll bring more holders next time 😉

Here are some of my favorite scans from the pack as we travelled through Ashland, Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver:

I actually forgot to focus this one above, and had it set to 1.5 meters from the shot prior. I still like it though! =P

Would I travel with the Travelwide again? Definitely. The look from images shot on such an enormous format is really quite special, and it’s crazy how easy it is to explore all day with such a light and portable system. The only other accessory I may need is a better viewfinder. The inlcuded finder is just a couple of metal squares, so it was hard to get my framing right. Other than that, I’m looking forward to shooting with this camera even more!

All Shots: Wanderlust Travelwide 90 + Schneider 90mm f/6.8 Angulon. Fujifilm Neopan Acros 100.
